Semi Final 1 – H.A.S. Team B v H.A.S. Team A

The first semi-final of the Boys Cricket Tournament was a battle between two of the teams from Hafiz Ahmed School. Team B who had the tournaments best batsman suspended batted first and struggled throughout despite 22 runs from Grade 4 boy Mabsar. They reached 90 for the loss of 7 wickets from their 15 Overs. Superb bowling from Alhim to snatch 3 wickets.
In reply, Team A opened strongly and reached the target of 91 in the last over having an inspired innings from Alhim (26) and Ishaan (18). It was a tense finish as Mazin and Ifuhaam kept Team B in with a chance with some economical bowling.

Semi Final 2 – F.S. Boys v M.J.M. Team A

The second semi final was more of a one sided affair as F.S. Boys batted first but inexperience against a good bowling attack saw them manage just 76 runs from their 15 Overs – Yaaesh hitting 11 as the top scorer. A brace of wickets each for Haikal, Captain Maan and Raaish.
In reply, the M.J.M. team picked off the 77 runs needed for victory Haikal (11), Anas (24) and Maan (21) securing their team a place in the final in the 11th Over.
In reflection, the F.S. Boys team did remarkably well to reach the semi-finals having only begun practicing a few weeks before. This surely shows the wealth of talent from that school towards sport and the Cricket Board of Maldives will work with the school to overcome some difficulties and ensure cricket is available for them to carry on practicing and playing after this tournament.
The Grand Final will be held on 3rd or 4th September as part of the Opening Ceremony of the Women’s Cricket Cup to be held in Fuvahmulah in early September.

All are welcome to come and support the youngsters at Fuvahmulah Cricket Stadium.
