Fuvahmulah ‘Sport For All’ event embraces Cricket

The C.B.M. was proud to participate in the ‘Sport For All’ event that took place on 7th & 8th October on the southern island of Fuvahmulah.

It was a great event to provide a sample of cricket to those that do not normally have access to the sport on the island.

The C.B.M. coaching staff on the island were part of a team led by President Mohamed Aflah and General Secretary Ibrahim Shaaz Habeeb that created two practice nets and hundreds of balls and bats for the public to use. There were fun games and competitions on hand to win cricket clothing and equipment.

In the morning the C.B.M. team was pleased to provide a cricketing experience to the Honourable Minister of Youth & Sports Ms. Iruthisham Adam with C.B.M. President and former national team player Mohamed Aflah giving advice on batting.

Later in the day it was a great opportunity for the Honourable Minister, Deputy Minister, Director General and various sporting dignitaries to visit Fuvahmulah Cricket Ground to see the wide open grass space that the C.B.M. has recently maintained. The discussions here were informing the basic plans of cementing a cricket presence on the island for the benefit of all in the country as well as the island itself.

The Sport For All programme was a fantastic event participated by many sports and truly well organised by the Ministry of Youth & Sports and the C.B.M. looks forward to being a part of future events.
