Thaajuddeen School v Muhyiddin School

Result: Thaajudeen School win by 3 wickets

T.S. were crowned this years MILO Big Match Champions after an exciting close match between them and Muhyiddin School of Villimalé.

An opening ceremony attended by School teachers, parents, friends and Cricket Board of Maldives Executive Committee members began proceedings as the school songs were sung and flags raised in bright sunshine at Ekuveni Cricket Ground.

Winning the toos, Muhyiddin captain Rassam selected to bat and things got off to a good start as they raced Rassam and Naail posted 45 runs between them. After some good bowling and fielding no other batsman got into double figures.
T.S. bowlers, Ivan 1 wicket, Raafil 3 wickets, Ahusan 3 wickets and a brace for Luayyu saw T.S. bowl out M.S. for 104 runs off 17.5 Overs.

In reply, T.S. loss both openers for zero runs with some fiery bowling from Ibrahim Azzam and Niaal. However, some sensible batting from Ahusan (24) and Shahudhan (24) put the run chase back on and certainly in with a chance of reaching the 105 target.

M.S. fought back with a flurry of catches and close fielding and overall 1 wicket each for Azzam, Naail, 2 for Rassam and Irufan. However, T.S. remained strong and won the match with 9 balls remaining.

At the conclusion of the match, a presentation was made with special guests.

Mr. Ahmed Nasheed (Commisioner of Sports) presented the Best Bowler award to Ali Rafil Rauf for his 3 wickets, Best Batsman award to Rassam Rasheed for his 29 runs scored, Best Fielder award to Mohamed Sameeh and Most Catches award to Ali Zayan.

Mr. Dishan, Business Manager of Nestlé Lanka PLC presented the Man of the Match award to Ahusan Mohamed of T.S.

Mr. Ibrahim Ismail, Senior Policy Executive at Ministry of Education presented the losing team with their trophy and certificates of participation.

Mr. Abdul Muhusin Hameed, Deputy Minister at Ministry of Youth and Sports. presented the CHAMPIONS team with their Trophy and certificates of participation.

We thank all the chief guests, principals and vice principles of both schools, teacher, parents and players for their support.

Finally, a huge thank you to Nestlé Lanka PLC for their efforts to support not only Cricket but all sport in Maldives, particuarly at a junior level. We hope their support continues for many years to come.
