2025 ACC Men’s U16 East Zone

The Maldives U16 National Cricket Team are competing in the Asian Cricket Council U16 Men’s East Zone Cup 2025.

Ten teams are participating in the tournament. Maldives is grouped with Malaysia, Hong Kong China, Thailand, and Myanmar. Team Maldives play their first match on 24 June.

The Attire was officially handed over by the Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation, Honourable Minister Rafiu. In his brief address to the team, the Minister emphasised the importance of consistent practice and long-term dedication. He referenced the widely recognised principle that athletes need to train for 10,000 hours over a 10-year period to reach excellence and mastery in their sport.

He also stressed the need for enhanced sports infrastructure, pledging to continue working tirelessly to improve facilities throughout his term including the conversion of the Ekuveni Ground exclusively for cricket.

The Cricket Board of Maldives (CBM) President also spoke at the event, highlighting the significance of sustaining youth development programs in order to raise the standard of cricket in the country. He underscored the importance of nurturing junior athletes and ensuring they are given the support and opportunities they need to grow, compete, and represent the Maldives while ensuring a steady stream of cricketers raising in the ranks to reach the senior national team. He reaffirmed CBM commitment to providing continuous support to these young cricketers throughout their journey in the sport.
