Squad Announcement and Attire Presentation Event 6th January 2026

A Maldives National Men’s Squad will take part in this year’s Sidhi Challenge Cup, set to be played in Varanasi, India, from 8th to 18th January. The competition features 16 teams in the group stage, with only the winner of each group progressing to the knockout rounds—setting up a demanding 40 Overs format where every match carries major importance.

In preparation for the tour, the squad was officially announced during a jersey presentation event held in Malé on 6th January 2026. The event brought together players, officials, and supporters to mark the start of the team’s campaign.

Playing Jerseys were handed over by Mr. Neerain Jaleel, Customer Experience Officer at MIB, while the Chief Guest, State Minister of Sports, Fitness & Recreation Mr. Abdul Razak, presented attire to the rest of the team.

Mr. Razak also delivered a short address and engaged the audience in an activity, reinforcing a message of collective responsibility – highlighting that when an individual lets themselves down it impacts the whole team, and when individuals lift themselves up, the entire team benefits.

Attire for Coaches Ismail Nihaad and Neesham Nasir were presented by Mr. Farhath Jaleel, adding another important moment of recognition for the staff supporting the squad. The leadership group was also confirmed at the ceremony, with Haziq Rasheed announced as Captain and Ameel Mauroof named Vice Captain.
