Fuvahmulah Cricket Academy v Bangla Tigers
Fuvahmulah Cricket Academy were crowned CHAMPIONS of the Fuvahmulah Men’s T20 Premier Cricket League today after a convincing win over Bangla Tigers at Fuvahmulah Cricket Ground.
Winning the toss, The local team of players captain Azin Rafeeq chose to have a bowl first; and what a decision.
From the first ball the FCA boys held a steely determination to win this match – tight bowling and fielding built pressure on the Bangla Tigers batsmen.
Wickets fell at regular intervals with almost all the 8 bowlers used picking up wickets. Two wickets each for Naseem Ali, Azin Rafeeq and Hassan Mutheeu helped to bring all 10 wickets by the 18th Over for a total of just 77 runs scored.
In reply, Fuvahmulah Cricket Academy cruised to the target of 78 before the end of the PowerPlay. Captain Azin scored 37 not-out along with Riyaz Rasheed piling on 28.
52 runs scored in boundaries from just 12 balls.

At the end of the match, the Champions were presented with the ‘Mohamed Ma’aadhu Shareef (Maad) Trophy’ named in memory of the friend and teammate of many of the players.
Maad sadly passed away during the tournament – and with his families’ permission the Annual Men’s T20 Trophy has been re-named in his remembrance.
The Champion Team were presented with their medals by Ibrahim Shareef (father of Maad). Mr. Shareef was presented with the match-ball of todays 1st innings and the we thank him for his patience and time to be with us today.
