The Cricket Board of Maldives held the jersey handover ceremony for the Maldives national team ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 Sub Regional Qualifier at Henveiru on Friday, 18 September.
The ceremony recognised strong individual performances during the ACC Men’s Challenger Cup 2026 (50 Overs). His Excellency Mohamed Rizvi Hassen, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives, presented performance bonuses to players who excelled during the tournament.
Ismail Ali and Ashan Yapa were recognised for scoring 99 and 50 runs respectively against Myanmar, while Ibrahim Rizaan received recognition for taking three wickets against Myanmar. Harsha Amarasinghe was honoured for his outstanding bowling performances, including four wickets against Singapore, three against Myanmar and seven against Thailand.
The event also included the exchange of an agreement between Maldives Islamic Bank and the Cricket Board of Maldives for the renewal of the National Team Attire sponsorship.
Hassan Haziq will lead the Maldives team as captain, with Yoosuf Azyan appointed vice-captain.
The additional squad members are Ibrahim Rizaan, Ismail Ali, Mohamed Rishwan, Shafraz Jaleel, Mabsar Abdulla, Ismail Nazwan, Adam Nasif, Ahmed Ameel, Harsha Amarasinghe, Ashan Yapa, Sheraz Iqbal and Tharusha Kavinda.
The team will be supported by Team Physio Mr Dhanushka Srimal, Team Manager Mr Arif Riza, Assistant Coach Mr Mohammad Javed and Head Coach Mr Asadullah Khan.
The Cricket Board of Maldives congratulates the players and officials and wishes the national team every success in the upcoming qualifier.
