After MatchDay 1 was a complete washout, the cricket got underway in MatchDay 2 with a comfortable win for MTCC Fuvahmulah against Fuvahmulah Cricket Academy.

MTCC v Fuvahmulah Cricket Academy
After the opening match was a complete wash-out last week and rain forecast for Thursday night and Friday morning, the teams and officials were happy to find a dry pitch and outfield at Fuvahmulah Cricket Ground.
FCA won the toss and chose to bat first and with just 9 Overs bowled the gathering clouds burst and a downpour commenced for around 30 minutes. With the pitch drying quickly, play resumed with a revised overs of 38 to complete the innings.
MTCC didn’t need all 39 Overs to take the wickets with the 9th and 10th falling in the 30th Over. Vishal bagged 3 wickets with 2 each for Gajju and Kanna.
In reply, it was captain Farid that kept his cool and saw his team home to a patient victory. Farid scored 56 not out and was there at the end to seal the win.
Fast bowlers Ali and Haikal each took a brace of wickets for the young Fuvahmulah team.

There will be a break for ramadan and national tournament commitments for 2 months. Matches resume on May 19th.

Bangla Tigers v Sri Lanka Fuvahmulah
Match nine of the Fuvahmulah Men’s 50 Overs Tournament produced a rampant win including 2 centurions and a superb team effort from Bangla Tigers.
Winning the toss and choosing the bat first, Bangla Tigers asked Sri Lanka Fuvahmulah to field first and despite a rain delay mid-way through the morning session that reduced the match to a 25 Overs per innings, the Bangla Tigers openers each scored booming centuries.
Mohamed AlAmin scored 100 from 68 balls before chipping a catch to Vijay off the bowling of Amila. Mohamed Al-Auddin scored a not-out 102 from 77 balls including 5 boundaries ad 7 maximums.
Mohamed Shagor scored 19 not-out to bring the teams score to 252/1 from their 25 Overs.
In reply, Sri Lanka Fuvahmulah struggled to get any partnership together and with the ball swinging around in the overcast and damp conditions, lost wickets at regular intervals until they were all out in the 20th Over scoring 107.
Mohamed Parves, Mohamed Al Amin, Sopn Das and Mohamed Mainuddeen shared 2 wickets each.
Bangla Tigers won by 145 runs. The Tigers are in second place on 10 points from 4 matches but do have a game in hand over the leaders, Fuvahmulah Cricket Academy, themselves on 17 points.

MTCC Fuvahmulah v Sri Lanka Fuvahmulah
Captain Najmul Hussain bowled with authority to lead his team to their first win in senior men’s cricket.
Sri Lanka Fuvahmulah won the toss and chose to bat first. Vijay Kumar scored 31 and was backed up by Namal Chaminda top scoring with 36 taking their total to 173 all-out from 25 of the 50 Overs on offer.
MTCC Captain Mohamed Farid took 6 wickets for 30 runs in a display of control.
In reply, the MTCC batsmen made their own match pressure by not being able to make any partnerships count towards the total required. Opener Tulsi scored a patient 27 but wickets fell all around with only the No. 10 batsman Faiyaz chipping in with 24 towards the end.
Sri Lanka captain Najmul Hussain took 7 wickets for 38 runs and was the catalyst to victory.
Sri Lanka Fuvahmulah won by 60 runs.
