The Cricket Board of Maldives (CBM) is proud to launch the SEEDS Cricket Outreach Programme in Kulhudhuffushi City in collaboration with the Kulhuduffushi City Council, marking another important milestone in the Board’s commitment to expanding cricket opportunities across the Maldives.
The five-day programme forms part of the national SEEDS Project – Towards 2030, a long-term grassroots initiative that aims to introduce at least 5,000 girls and boys aged 6–13 years to cricket by 2027, with a strong emphasis on children living in the atolls.
More than just a cricket programme, SEEDS combines sport with education, helping children develop healthy lifestyles, teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship and confidence through fun and engaging activities.
Two qualified CBM coaches are working with school children across Kulhudhuffushi, delivering structured coaching sessions covering batting, bowling, fielding and game-based activities. Teachers will also receive introductory training in cricket coaching, umpiring and scoring to strengthen the sustainability of school cricket.
The Cricket Board of Maldives believes that sustainable cricket development begins within schools and communities. Through partnerships with local councils, educators and parents, the SEEDS Project aims to establish lasting cricket programmes that will provide opportunities for young people throughout the country.
