Head Coach Appointed to the Historic 1st Maldives National Women’s Cricket Squad

Ms. Padma Karunarathne, former Sri Lanka Women’s National Team player and Former head coach of Colombo Cricket Club Women’s Team (1st Div – Sri Lanka) has arrived in Malé today to become the Head Coach of the very first Maldives National Women’s Cricket Squad.
Squad members and CBM Officials welcomed the Cricket Australia trained Level 3 Coach to Velana International Airport this morning and will be spending the next few days training together before heading out to the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal in early December.
The appointment again shows the determination of CBM President and Executive Committee to develop women’s cricket in the Maldives.
After 3 years of women’s cricket programmes around the country, this is a great opportunity for the players to gain valuable experience on the international stage led by a coach with a long list of experience in managing, coaching, developing and playing international women’s cricket.
