The nations largest Ramadan sports competition continues with the start of the ‘Company Tournament’ at Ekuveni Cricket Ground in Malé from April 15th.

TCM v Friends Maldives

The 2022 MILO Ramadan Cricket Carnival came to a thrilling conclusion after the Grand Final of the Company Tournament was played two high-quality cricket teams.

Batting first, TCM, led once again by the soft-ball trickster Mohamed Shiyam as he boomed 34 runs from 18 balls. Arkam chipped in with 22 from just 8 balls bringing a tidy total of 118/5 from 8 Overs.

In reply, Friends Maldives lost just 1 wicket on their way to a fast victory in the evening sun.

Malinda scored 36 from 10 balls with 6 massive sixes, Siridaran ended 31 Not Out from 16 balls.

A great final ended with Siridaran hitting a huge six to reach the target in the 7th Over.

STO-RC v Friends Maldives

Earlier in day….

The first SemiFinal saw STO-RC bat first and struggle bravely to get to 98/7 from 7 Overs – still with 1 Over to spare.

Helal Hussain was in blinding form scoring 31 from 13 balls – with 4 maximums.

In reply, Freinds Maldives were up against immense pressure from ball 1 until the final ball of the match. Needing 9 runs from the last Over, Saif hit a booming six on the 3rd delivery before waiting until the last ball to force a single and claim a place in the GRAND FINAL.

Oh how STO-RC will rue not using their full 8 Overs!

Friends Maldives Pvt Ltd won by 1 wicket.


SEMI-FINAL 2
TCM v Fathaha Stars

The Second Semi of a busy day saw TCM take control of a reasonably high scoring affair with Fathaha Stars.

First up TCM, led by the mecurical Mohamed Shiyam creamed 47 off 22 balls alongside Asanka 26 from 12 balls taking the TCM boys to 135/7 from 7.5 Overs.

In reply, Fathaha Stars opening batsman Mehedi Hassan whipped 27 from 16 off his bat in 16 balls. The guys kept chipping away unitl the final ball and after a great tournament for Fathaha Stars, they just could not get past the bowling skills of TCM.

TCM won by 17 runs.

Group Match 1
4pm: Equivalent Line v Friends Maldives

Friends Maldives showed their winning mentality in the first of todays 3 match marathon.

Losing the toss, Equivalent batted first and despite some big maximums from Viraj, Asanaka and Rahaman Hassan, their team could only amass 86/6 from 8 Overs.

In reply, Friends made short work of the target; picking off 90 runs with 3 overs to spare.

Malinda scored a paced 20 and Shanaka boomed 34 from 12 balls.

Friends Maldives won by 6 wickets.

4pm: MTCC B v Alia Maldives

Moorthy Sevan with 22 runs from 17 was the top scorer of the innings as the B team from MTCC made their way to a modest 95 from 8 Overs.

In reply, Alia made it 1 win from 1 played. Rilwan hit 3 maximums and 3 boundaries in 33 runs from just 10 balls. Khasru chipped in with 23 from 16 balls.

For MTCC B, Sohel showed his skills with the ball in hand grabbing 2 wickets for just 21 runs.

Alia Maldives won by 5 wickets.

4pm: Ahinshaka’s v Fathaha Stars

Fathaha Stars won the toss and chose to bowl in the hot sunshine at 2pm in this afternoons super early match.

Ahinshanka’s got down to business swiftly and made a decent 133/4 from 8 Overs. Tharaka 30 from 16 balls, Madumal Perera 29 from 11 balls and Heshan Galagoda 24 from 8 balls hit 13 sixes collectively.

Chasing 134 to win, Fathaha Stars aided by some wayward early bowling, set a good foundation to victory – bynthe end of the 2nd over the score was 29/1.

Throwing all they had, the batsmen made it to 70/1 from 4 overs, just within the required run rate. Then it was just 21 needed from 12 balls – with both strong batsmen retired out, what could the Fathaha Stars do?

Win and win in style they did so. Mehedi Hassan 34 from 14, Roman Miah 35 from 14 balls and Krisna Dhas smashing 12 from 2 balls.

Fathaha Stars won by 6 wickets.

9am: TCM v STO-RC

Batting first on a glorious morning, TCM reached a respectable 121/1. The evergreen Mohamed Shiyam and Savindra Maju Sri retired, as per the rules, on 31 runs each.

In reply, STO-RC rolled the dice to bring back powerful batsmen to try and force a result in their favour. Helal Hussain not out on 44 from 28 balls gave his best shot but the team fell short by 7 runs.

Savindra Maju Sri grabbing the one wicket for a misely 11 runs from his 2 Overs.

TCM won by 7 runs.

10am: Lemongrass Pvt Ltd v Equivalent Line Pvt Ltd

The second match of the morning brought a quick win for the boys from Equivalent after knocking over the target of 70 to win set by Lemongrass.

Bindu top scored for his team with 15 but a flurry of wickets by Priyantha taking 4 for 14 from 2 overs laid waste to any serious plans from Lenongrass to win this fixture.

Ranga Eq 36 and Viraj 21 was enough to secure the points in the 5th Over.

Equivalent Line Pvt Ltd won by 7 wickets.

2pm: MTCC-A v Alia Maldives

Perhaps it was something in the weather today as yet another low scoring but interesting match took place in the early afternoon.

Batting first, MTCC-A mustered 76 runs for 5 wickets. Prakash scored a patient 31 from 25 balls.

Alia Maldives chased down the total in 26 balls thanks to a quickfire 36 in 13 balls from Mohamed Rilwan, supported by 19 from fellow opener Mohamed Hameed.

Alia Maldives won by 7 wickets.

Friends Maldives Pvt Ltd v Fathaha Stars

Batting first, Friends Maldives bludgeoned their way to a 139 for 3 wicket. Malinda top scoring with 31 from 25 runs. Siridaran Selvandan 24 and Mohamed Shameem helped things along too.

In reply, Fathaha Stars through everything and the kitchen sink at chasing the target down. Top player Roman Miah was out for golden duck leaving Simeon Harris 38 from 18 and Krishna Dhas Dhasaian 33 from 15 to fight hard against some seriously tricky bowling of Malinda and Janaka.

It was the bowling of Malinda in the final over of the day conceding just 2 runs off the last 4 balls to secure victory.

To be honest, this could have gone either way in the last over. Malinda – nerves of steel in the softball game.

Friends Maldives Pvt Ltd won by 2 runs.

MTCC B v STO-RC

The B Team batted first and scored a ground out 110 from 8 Overs. Moorthy Sevan 29 from 19 balls was the top scorer for his team followed by Rajith 25 from 11 balls.

In reply, STO-RC lost 6 wickets on their way to victory, finally grasping all 3 points in the 7th Over thanks to Alhaz Ahmed 26 and Robel 25 from just 7 balls.

STO-RC won by 1 wicket.

Lemongrass Pvt Ltd v Friends Maldives

In the first of Lemongrass Pvt Ltd double header this morning they won the toss and chose to have a bat.

Friends Maldives put the pressure on from ball 1 with some fast paced deliveries mixed with the odd slower ball.

Bindu Deminikuruge top scored to lead his team to set a target of 89 to defend.

In reply, Friedns Maldives with the soft ball no pressure guy of Malinda 24 and Amila MAdhushan 24 finished the match off in the 5th Over scoring 94.

Friends Maldives Pvt Ltd won by 5 wickets.

Ahinshanka’s v Lemongrass Pvt Ltd

Lemongrass took the field first in this match and struggled against some fine attacking batting by the boys from Ahinshanka’s.

Tharak Madumal cannoned his way to 31 from just 12 balls whilst Heshan Galagoda whipped 36 from 20 balls. All in, Ahinshanka’s scored 157 for 2 wickets.

In reply, Lemongrass were caught like a rabbit in the headlights trying to chase this one down. The sublime and stylish Bindu Deminikuruge bravely scored 34 form 20 balls – but not enough as Ahinshanka’s cruised to victory.

Ahinshanka’s won by 60 runs.

TCM v MTCC-A

The afternoons matches began with a TCM defending their total of 111 for 5 wickets made from 8 Overs.

Sampath Dinesh 12, Mohamed Rizan 15 and Chandan Amarawickrama 19 combined to build the target.

In reply, MTCC-A lost 5 wickets for 3 runs thanks to Chandana & Ranuka Perera and their accurate bowling.

Shibin 27 and Prem 26 gave an excellent effort in chase and fell short by 10 runs.

TCM won by 10 runs.


Group Match 19
Lemongrass Pvt Ltd v Fathaha Stars

Fathaha Stars won against Lemongrass Pvt Ltd in an unlikely one-sided match.

Lemongrass batted first and their early batsmen were unable to score much, taking 9 runs in just 24 balls until Kanna 21 and Amila 16 brought about a total of 60 runs from 8 Overs.

In reply, Fathaha Stars achieved the target in 19 balls. Mehedi Hassan 28 from 12 and Roman Miah 13 from 7 balls romped to victory.

Fathaha Stars won by 7 wickets.


Group Match 20
STO-RC v MTCC-A

Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, STO-RC used the in-form batsman Rabiul Alam to fine use as he swept through 18 balls to score 58 runs with 9, yes 9, boundary clearing maximums.

STO-RC posted a target of 139 for MTCC-A team to chase down.

Shaji, scoring 47 from 19, Sudar 25 and Sakil Not Out on 28 kept the scorers busy as they tried their best in the run-chase.

A wicket each for Robel, Helal and Saif, by far their best bowlers did enough to squash the chances of MTCC-A Team.

STO-RC won by 12 runs.
